Awareness Session on Artificial Intelligence Held at Alif College Mardan

MARDAN: An awareness session on the use, benefits and challenges associated with Artificial Intelligence (AI) was held at Alif College for Girls Mardan. Dr. Ali Zahir, Head of the National Geographical Information Institute at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, delivered a detailed lecture to the students on emerging trends in AI and its positive and effective use.

Addressing the session, Dr. Ali Tahir said that Artificial Intelligence is not a magical process but a machine-learning system that learns from examples and the data provided to it and generates results based on different patterns. He said that the performance of AI systems can be improved through the information and feedback provided to them.

He urged the students to use AI as an assisting tool in their education and studies, while avoiding complete dependence on AI and social media. He emphasized that AI should not be treated as a substitute for personal goals and efforts but should be used to enhance academic, intellectual and creative capabilities.

Dr. Ali Tahir also highlighted the economic and employment opportunities associated with AI, saying that some AI-based applications are generating tens of millions of dollars in monthly subscription revenues, while a large number of new employment opportunities are expected to emerge in the field of Artificial Intelligence in the future.

Addressing the students, he said that instead of becoming dependent on Artificial Intelligence and social media, they should use these technologies to achieve their goals and promote education, research and other positive activities.

On the occasion, Alif School and College Project Manager Mehr-un-Nisa Akbar and Principal Dr. Sadaf Qasim also addressed the gathering and briefed the participants about the institution’s vision and mission.

The students showed keen interest in the session and actively participated in discussions on the use of Artificial Intelligence and various issues related to the technology.
